• Do waste a couple of hours on it. But first of course Léon and Nikita, then also Old Boy. But forget about SALT. Personally I’m still curious about Wanted, though.
• Enjoy the beauty and the constant action, and the unexpected laughs like when a missile “sneaks up” on the bad guy.

Who made The Fifth Element, Léon, Taxi, The Transporter and The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc? Luc Besson made those. I’m beginning to think he has a patent on the childish, perfectly misplaced action-comedy. As here, when the boss explains what a ninja the main character is, and then a tank missile flies right into the living room. I laughed my butt off. Simple, childish, brutal – and great. A nine year old girl witness the murder of her family, flees spectacularly from the murders and devotes the rest of the movie to revenge fifteen years later. Usually there is no time to think very much in this kind of film and that’s possibly a weak point today – the story’s sidetracks take some time and the movie doesn’t really fly until halfway through. The dialogue is pretty fun, delivered with adequate over-acting. Zoe Saldana is really good as the gorgeous dope ninja. The photo is what you expect but of course the editors stress from the first image. It’s great fun but missable – Luc Besson lives and keeps producing.

Vem har gjort Det femte elementet, Léon, Taxi, The Transporter och Jeanne d’Arc? De har Luc Besson gjort. Jag börjar tro att han har patent på barnslig, perfekt malplacerad actionhumor. Som här, när gangsterbossen förklarar vilken ninja huvudpersonen är och det sen seglar in en pansarmissil mitt i vardagsrummet. Jag höll på att garva av stolen. Enkelt, barnsligt, brutalt – och fantastiskt. En nioårig tjej bevittnar mordet på sin familj, flyr spektakulärt ifrån mördarna och ägnar resten av filmen åt att hämnas femton år senare. Vanligtvis hinner man inte fundera så mycket i den här typen av filmer och det är möjligen en invändning idag – mellansatserna tar lite tid och det är först efter halva filmen som det lyfter på allvar. Dialogen är hyfsat kul och levereras med adekvat överspel. Zoe Saldana är riktigt bra som skitsnygg knarkninja. Fotot är vad man kan förvänta sig men klipparna stressar såklart från första bildbytet. Det är kul men inget att gräma sig över om man missar – Luc Besson lever och producerar vidare.
