A famous artist with a life like a cliché. Substance abuse, loneliness and a longing for love. He finds a lover candidate over the Internet – from Brazil. Who comes to Sweden to give it a try. Everything seems fine, but the guy is pretty unstable (the artist, that is). They buy a dog and the artist sells it without saying. They move in together but he needs space so the new guy has to move out again. But then he changes his mind again. And the Brazilian guy accepts it with the comment “I just know now. About the future I know nothing.” This is a documentary. Those of you who’ve read some of my reviews know that I have little sympathy for this kind of selfish behavior. People dealing with the rest of the world as their personal assistants. But the film is quite neat. It’s very intimate, and it gives no unnecessary explanations. The film relies on the protagonist’s story, which is impressive because it works. Then it is of course less than an hour long and it is also in its favor. I came to think of one thing, what if it hadn’t worked out between the two? They even tell in the beginning that there was a similar episode in the artist’s life some years ago. Maybe she expected a crash, that filmmaker. Pretty bold, I’d say.

En känd konstnär med närmast klichéartat liv. Missbruk, ensamhet och kärlekstörst. Han hittar en livskamratskandidat över nätet – från Brasilien. Som kommer till Sverige för att prova. Allt verkar bra, men killen är hyfsat instabil (konstnären, alltså). De skaffar hund och konstnären säljer den utan att säga nåt. De flyttar ihop men han behöver utrymme så den nya får flytta ut igen. Men så ångrar han sig igen. Och brassen köper det med kommentaren “jag vet bara nu, om framtiden vet jag inget”. Det här är en dokumentär. Ni som läst några av mina recensioner vet nog att jag inte har mycket till övers för den här sortens egoistiska beteende. Folk som behandlar resten av världen som deras personliga leklåda. Men filmen är rätt snygg. Det är väldigt intimt, och man ger inga onödiga förklaringar. Filmen litar till huvudpersonens berättelse, vilket är imponerande eftersom det fungerar. Sen är den mindre än en timme lång och det är förstås också till dess fördel. Sen kom jag på en grej. Tänk om det inte funkat mellan dem. Man berättar i början att det fanns en liknande episod i hans liv några år tidigare. Trodde hon, filmaren, att det skulle gå åt skogen nu också? Ganska fräckt, får man säga.
